The first day of First Grade!

I was lucky to get Gage to bed last night. He was so excited to start school today! We had been in Springville all weekend visiting Grandma and Grandpa, and didn't get home till about 5:30- but Gage was ready to go to bed so he would be able to wake up on time for the bus to take him to school. I was glad that even little boys get excited about new school clothes, and even though I would have picked something different, the dinosaur t-shirt won out. I've been excited too for Gage to go to school, it seems like it's been a long summer of wasted time. Working 3 days a week doesn't sound like too much, but it's amazing how in just those 3 days, you lose any schedule you might have had, all discipline goes out the door, and anything they may have learned in school gets totally lost in a pool of video games and online mindlessness. I am so glad we have something more constructive to do with our time! Now, for Miss Ali...

Not much has changed. I woke Gage up at about 7am, (his bus comes at 7:50am) he got dressed, we combed his hair, we found his backpack, even had shoe-tying 101- he ate breakfast, we took pictures outside, I even walked up the hill to the bus stop with him for more pictures. In the meantime, this is what Ali did. She didn't even wake up till after 9! Mornings may turn out to be my favorite time of the day! I actually got a lot done!

On a side note, this is what my husband spent his "alone" time doing this weekend! I had told him I didn't want a dry creek bed in front of our house, I guess I couldn't visualize it like he did. I was so impressed! It looks better than I would have ever imagined it, and I honestly love it! We worried that the wind would blow the bark away last night, but it didn't- it finished off the yard so well, now next year we'll get a fence...

Your yard looks great!! Matt can always "visualize" things much better than I can. I hope Gage has a great day. I love 1st grade. Kindergarten is the pits. I mean, I'm glad they go but some days you think, is this really worth it?

We've thought about moving there, but we need a place to rent (house) until we can build one next year. Any ideas?

You beat me to it. (school blog) I'm a week behind thanks to Benji's SLC trip. Your yard looks great! I wish we could do something like that. Oh well, maybe next year.

Isn't the first day of school so fun! He looks so cute. My boys slept in forever this morning too, oh well, it will change soon.
Yard looks great. I hate putting in yards, I don't mind working on them after, but hate the initial doing them part. Have a good day!

Kamryn was so excited about school today that he woke up at 6:30. By the time I woke up at 7:00 he was all dressed, had his backpack ready and everything. I too am glad for the schedule of school. We all slept in way more than we should of this summer. Now to start on my list of things I keep saying I will do once school starts. BTW your yard looks great. Your husband is always so good at that.
