Ali's Nightly Routine

I will gladly accept any advice anyone has on this subject. I am at witts end with my little princess and I don't know where to go short of Nyquil from here. I never struggled with Gage the same way I do with Ali, and I don't know why they are so different when I did everything exactly the same way! I'm a big fan of a schedule. My kids napped at the same time everyday, ate at the same time and went to bed at the same time. Ali quit taking a nap in the day before Gage did, and she WILL NOT go to bed when she's supposed to EVER anymore. She still goes in her room, and in her bed at the same time as Gage every night, but for the life of me, I can not get her to GO TO SLEEP!!! She says she needs a drink, and then 5 minutes later she remembers she needs to brush her teeth, and then 5 minutes after that she has to go to the bathroom and then 30 minutes later she'll tell me she's scared...it goes on and on and on! When she finally does go to sleep she's out! And she sleeps through the night like a champ. She sleeps late in the morning too, till 9 or 9:30. The thing is, if I need to get her up earlier than that, she's horrible! So I know that she needs as much sleep as she can get- I just can't get her to understand the going-to-bed concept! AAARRRGH! I believe that some of the behavioral problems we have with Ali could be a result of her lack of sleep, and lack of a schedule- but how do you reason with an absolutely headstrong 5 year old? I'm lost! I'm tired! I'm willing to try anything!

Benadryl and Melatonin...it cures anything...Several Dr.'s have told me it is safe, effective, natural, non addictive, etc. Call me for the amounts.

Ohhhh....that is a rough one. My Jordan is like that too. He won't sleep in his bed because he likes to fall asleep with the TV on. I got so tired of fighting with him about how he needed to sleep in his bed that I gave up. He sleeps on the couch every night. I agree with Kandice, a little Benadryl certainly wouldn't hurt. Good luck! Keep us informed.

I was up 14 times (that I counted) everynight for over a week...both the girls were HORRIBLE to the point that I was going to drug them also...then I heard about the wonderful mixture from Kandice and I've been asleep since! (I'll admit, Cielo must be immune to everything, but I've started to just block her out for her own good) Yeah, the move sure affected our schedule and we've had a hard time with sleep but I'm hoping it gets better soon. Good luck with Ali
