Sick Day

I'm the kind of mom who sends her kid to school unless he can prove to me that he's really sick. Show me the vomit- and you get to stay home, otherwise, you go to school and get over whatever it is that made you fake sick that morning. Unfortunately, Gage's proof came a little before midnight last night, all over his bed- down comforter and all. I hate cleaning up puke, and have developed a great ability to hold my breath for longer periods of time since Gage was born...the kid blows chunks every chance he gets! So, he and I slept on the couch last night- and I woke up cramped on my side, and totally uncomfortable, just to make sure that he didn't puke on anything else. I didn't think he would mind staying home from school too much, beings that he's got a reputation now as a homicidal miscrient. It was trying to convince him that he was too sick to play with his friends, and way too sick to go to the birthday party he was invited to that made being sick really suck. (Those were his words...I don't know where he learned them.) He spent the whole day on the couch watching various horrific cartoons. He'd start feeling better, so he'd get up and run around long enough to decide that he wasn't better- and then he'd spend a while in the bathroom before he'd lay back down on the couch again. Poor little one! It did give him plenty more time to work on that tooth though, and if only my mom was around! This thing would have been gone long ago! But, since Jon and I both find it incredibly disgusting, it still dangles there- literally by a thread!

I hate having sick kids too. I'm not a great nurse. I love it when my kids get old enough that they can make it to the bathroom and they don't make a huge mess. I hope he gets feeling better soon.
