Addicted.

OK. I'll admit it, I'm an addict. I thought I could go without Diet Pepsi/Coke all day today and made it till Jon was on his way home and stopped off at the store. The minute he walked through the door, he filled a glass of ice with the sweet necter from the silver can. I immediately felt better, but continued using it as an excuse for the foul mood I was in as long as I could.

I'm a little disappointed in myself. I honestly don't believe I have an addictive personality. I do get obsessed over some things- my husband says I get a "feather." But over something as menial as a drink, I would have never thought not having it would make me as ornery as I was today! And I had absolutely no energy. I managed to scrub my kitchen floor on my hands and knees, but once the job was finished, so was I. ( It did take a while, I haven't had the desire, let alone the energy to do it for way too long!) I don't know, it's not healthy and I know it. I also know how it would help me in my eternal quest to get skinny, and I have been told that I may as well be swallowing a pill full of cancer- the stress is making me thirsty.

To all of you "addicts" out there- do you feel the need to quit on a daily basis? Am I the only one who prefers the thought of shortening my life to giving up the daily "joe?" I know I could live without it, it's just getting to the point of --living without it. Until then, CHEERS!

I keep telling you that Sprite Zero is the way to go but, it still sucks the Ca++ from your bones and bloats your stomach awe but the burn as it goes down is AWESOME! Hummmm I think that's what people who drink the really "hard" stuff say...I believe that the day I live without it is the day they no longer sell it at the store!

You are so cute! I got your blog address from my mom Bonnie. I'm one of Jon's cousins from Oregon. I had to comment about this. I have the same problem. I love Diet Dr. Pepper. I tried to not have any friday also. I made it until 6:00 PM and then the headache came. I ended up at 7-11 for a big gulp. That's my bad addiction also. You would think it would be easy just to stop drinking pop. But oh no it's not. Good luck to you.

Stephanie, I have a terrible addiction to soda as well. Last September I decided to go the whole month soda free and made it with flying colors and felt really good about it. It was an awesome feeling being able to overcome the addiction for a month but within a few weeks I gave in again and haven't had a successful run of being sober since. Sara doesn't drink soda and we probably won't being buying it when we're married. Maybe then I'll be able to overcome. It's all about self-control and self-discipline. You have to want to quit and find something else to replace the craving. That's my two cents for now. :)

I am a total regular coke addict. The day is better with a sip from the red can.

Hey, not to rain on your addiction parade, but I hope you are able to get off it just for your health and weight loss goals. I love, love, love pepsi but I don't need it. I usually have one on the weekend just becuase I enjoy it. All of the women in Gary's family have been totally addicted and tried quitting numerous times. He has one sister that has been "clean" for 20+ months now. That is saying alot considering she never drank anything but diet pepsi for over 30 years, not even a glass of water. She lost 10 pounds in just 1 month after quitting and has since lost another 15. Good luck in your quest for sobriety.
