Family Meeting

Don't get me wrong, Jon is a great dad...he's just not as involved with the hard parts as I have to be. We are still dealing with crap on the bus...this time with Gage on the recieving end of it, instead of being the instigator, but that's another story. I try to talk to him and ask him what "we" should do about it, and he says- "I think YOU should ride the bus!" Hmmmph. Not what I had in mind. As far as the fun parts, Jon leads the way. He's up for a good wrastle every night when he gets home from work. He lets Gage and Ali help him in the garage and he disciplines every once in a while. I wish he would more often though, cause the kids really listen to him! Well, I might have mentioned tonight that he wasn't helping much with the "hard" parts of being a parent, and he might have been a little offended. I think he would have been more so, but he knew I was sick, and didn't want to upset me too much. He did, however, call a family meeting. The kids were a little reluctant at first... but once they sat down, I think Jon actually got through to them. He asked them whose responsibility is was to clean the house. Of course they both said "MOM AND DAD!" But after they were set straight, he actually laid some ground rules; rooms are to be clean when he checks them right after dinner every night. If said rooms are not clean, the perpatrator will stay in said room until it is. Our kids have had a HUGE problem with messes...and I am going CRAZY trying to keep up! How many willing to bet that the room inspector actually sticks with it? I can tell you, that's not the safest bet- I wouldn't even do it...but it got them to clean their rooms tonight! I need all the help I can get!

My newest attempt at getting the kids to help clean-up is taking away everything left on the floor after they go to bed every night. We'll see how long I keep up with it...
