Lesson Learned...I hope!

Let's just say, Gage had a bad week last week. I got a call from his teacher explaining she would be sending home a "needs improvement" on his weekly behavior report. Aparently, the "class clown" took it a little too far during class and it got a little waring. Then there was the incident involving the words- brace yourself- "shut-up" and "jerk." I know, I know, you're all asking, "where on earth could he have learned such awful language?" right? Well, honestly, he learned it from his father...;) But seriously, I would hope my child would be more respectful- and aside from being a little embarrassed, I got a little worried about what was going on with my favorite little boy. I still don't know, but we're working on it.
Every year Jon and I have to go to this Wild Turkey Federation Banquet thing that Jones Paint and Glass sponsers- I don't love it... the food is great but it's actually a big fund raiser, so there's an (obnoxious) auction and a lot of guns- not really my thing. Jon let me off the hook this year and took Gage for a little male bonding. They had a great time- Gage even won a couple things in a raffle drawing- one of which was a brand new POCKET KNIFE!!! Wow! No problem right? I think it's so funny that a man would think it was OK for his 7 year old (almost) to have his own impaling weapon, and that said 7 year old would be responsible enough to keep it with him? We told him he could only get it out when he was with his dad- but do you think that stopped him? Needless to say, he had an accident. When he came to tell me, I could tell he was trying to be tough- and he lied to me about it so as not to get in trouble. When I called him out on it- his little tough face melted, and he cried cause it hurt. It broke my heart. How do you get mad at that? I did take the knife away, and luckily it wasn't a bad cut, but later when I went into his room, I found a paper with blood all over it- where he had tried to clean it up. Poor little guy! I think he's learned his lesson!

At least it wasn't a bad cut. The poor kid! And I bet he uses it more carefully next time - in a few years ;). Oh the joy of boys!

We had that same situation with Kamryn and a pocket knife. He learned his lesson.

Here's my question Steph! Have you checked the couch for puncture wounds? LOL! I am glad that it wasn't a bad cut, poor little guy!
