Day 30- My Favorite Song...

I've been avoiding anything too personal this whole month. I wrote so many things and didn't post them cause they hit a nerve- so I erased them and instead posted something I felt more comfortable with. But for this day- and such a simple task- "Your Favorite Song" I'm going there...

Because music is such a pivotal part of my life, I think I'm affected by the things I hear and the memories they evoke in a way not many others are. One song brings back so many memories, that even to think about it makes me cry. When I hear "It's a Wonderful World" when anyone sings it...flood gates: OPEN FOR BUSINESS.

I know my family knows where it comes from- the same place "Daisy, Daisy" and "Oh Patashay" comes from. My Grandma used to sing it to me all the time. I hear her voice sing it whenever it comes on... it doesn't matter who it is on the radio- I hear my Grandma. There are so many memories! It's such a trigger to hear it- and I love it, but in some cases, I've had to change the station, or skip the song on the CD, because the inevitable is sure to happen. It's been almost 8 years that my Grandma has been gone, and it seems like just yesterday she was sitting at the counter at my parents house with a huge smile and that fiery red hair. I miss her so much!

There are many songs that could fulfill this task on a less personal level, but when I think about my favorite song, I always think of "It's a Wonderful World" first. It's not even the song, not even the words...it's the memory it triggers.

holy cow I'm seriously bawling- the second I read it's a wonderful world. You are right it's the best song for grandma and I like you always think of her when I hear it... I miss her like crazy- she was the only person that really called me Cami- she could always make me smile.

I remember the angle necklace she had hanging from the mirror in her car- there's a sign in Delta that says "Never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly" She said... "My guardian angel is right here, keeping up with me."

Rozzy loves oh patashay- she is always smiling and dancing when I sing it.

This was so great to read! Isn't it funny how little songs and little things remind us of people important and open up the tears. Dont hold back and for pete's sake quit erasing the things you type girl!! I love reading your blog because its so you!

There are so many things I miss about her I can't even begin to list them all but, there is not a day that goes by that I don't hear a song that doesn't remind me of her. She ALWAYS told me to smile because nobody remembered a "frownie" face but, everyone remembers a face with a smile on it! I don't remember my mom without a smile...Maybe a couple of times...Usually, I had something to do with that! She really was a fun little lady and I adored her! I am glad that you have such loving memories of her. She LOVED her grand kids!
