Tree's for Charity...

Last year at work we starting donating a decorated tree to the "Tree's for Charity" here in Vernal.  We get to pick our own Charity and the tree's are auctioned off and the money goes to that charity.  Last year we had the most original and different tree- I posted pictures...it had elk figures on it, and the colors were so different from traditional.  It went over well- and we started a new tradition.

This year our tree followed suit.  Why mess too much with a good thing right?  It was gorgeous once again!  The bar was raised though, and this years competitions was a lot harder.  Ours sold for 3500 dollars- not too shabby!  I loved it- and the girls at work and I put a ton of work into it!  I have some pictures...

We were really happy with the results, and our charity was a woman who recently found out she had breast cancer at the same time her husband lost his job- they have no insurance and they've struggled.  I only wish we could have done more!  One of my friends here in town has a daughter that was born extremely pre-mature and has had problems since.  Her tree raised over 7000 dollars they are planning to use for her brail.  I was so excited for them. 

Vernal is a pretty amazing town this time of year.  "Holly Days" is always Black Friday.  I've never experienced much of it but the evening of.  They had free rides for the kids, free hot chocolate, cotton candy and popcorn.  There were great big fire troughs that you could just warm up next to, or they had marshmallows and sticks you could use as well.  My favorite part is the roasted chesnuts, and they were giving them out by the handful this year!  Yay!  We let the kids do a few rides, but didn't stay for the kereoke this year... I could have stayed all night, but the kids were cold and tired... the kids meaning Jon.  It's my yearly reminder that living in Vernal isn't so bad.  Sometime MY family is going to have to come and experience it!  I know you'd all love it!
