Pneumonia?

Well, it's no secret that my son has been sick for a few days. He coughs like his lung is stuck in his throat- but so far, that was it! He hadn't ran a fever, he played, went to school, and did everything normal, just with a cough! Gage has always gotten a cough around this time of year...like I said before, I go to the doctor, they give me the medicine for his breathing treatments and some allergy stuff and send us on our way. I wasn't even going to take him this time, accept that it gets sooooo much worse during the night. Gage has had 2 attacks now in the middle of the night that last between 1 1/2 to 2 hours of constant coughing. He can't even stop to breathe! So, I called the ped clinic on Saturday and they got us right in. Imagine my surprise when I find out that my darling son has walking pneumonia! Aren't you supposed to have a fever and other symptoms? Because looking at Gage, seeing him play (I TOLD Gage to play outside Valerie!) you would never know he was sick. If he's active though, even just going up and down the stairs, he starts to cough, and if he's just eaten, he throws it all up!

Needless to say, I stayed home with my sick children on Saturday. It was all I could do to keep Gage in the house. It's so much harder when you don't understand how sick you really are. He was sure if he walked instead of ran, and did his best not to start coughing, he'd be OK. I, on the other hand, wasn't about to take any chances. FYI to all the people Gage was in contact with over the last few days- he is NOT contagious. He has bacterial pnemonia brought on by asthma. He's on antibiotics now, but the cough wasn't even the flu bug, just his asthma acting up as it always does this time of year... it sounds awful, but I promise none of your kids are going to get it, at least from him.

Jon got home from Oregon last night. The kids were as excited to see him as I was! It's just nice to know that he's OK. And it was great timing for me to go see the new Twilight movie! It was a great tribute to the book, and I think anyone who hasn't read the books, but sees the movie, will now go and read the books!

Thanks for the support from all of you! I am so lucky to have such good friends, I never feel like I'm alone, even when my husband is gone. It's funny, but that was the longest I've ever been home without him. I've gone on trips where I've been gone longer, but never the other way around. I can't say it was all bad- but I like having him home a lot better. After the accident with the Robb family, I feel very blessed to have my husband with me now. My prayers are focused on them, that they will get through this remembering that they are a forever family- that at least we are blessed with the knowledge that we will all be together again. I hope everyone takes the time today to say a prayer and thank the Lord for the families we have now, and forever.
