A Mothers Worst Fear

I did my best, but scanning an x-ray isn't easy! I was too afraid to talk much about my week before today, and anyone who tried to talk to me knows why. I've always said my worst fear is outliving one of my children, and even thinking about what could have been makes me want to start crying all over again.
For a while now, Gage has been getting headaches. At first I just shrugged them off as growing pains, but they started getting worse and more frequent. He came home from school one day with a headache and later threw-up. It happened a couple times since then, the last time being only a couple days ago. I started thinking too much about it and called my nurse-mom to see what she thought. She was at work and asked a doctor at the surgical center, and he thought it was a good idea to take Gage into the doctor. It just isn't normal for a 7-year old to have migraines.
Needless to say, we got in within an hour of when they opened, and Gage was scheduled for a CT scan of his head for this morning. All day yesterday thoughts of tumors loomed over me, and I couldn't help but think of what I would do if we had to go through a trial like that. I am so sorry for those that realize these things first-hand, I can't imagine the heart-ache. Gage was nervous about the IV, as was I- but decided he would be tough. For the most part he was, later he told me it didn't even hurt! We're not completely out of the woods yet, but the radiologist didn't see anything "extra" as Jon put it. Gage does have a terrible sinus infection, one that he could have had his whole life! And one of his ear canal thingy's is a little "crooked." Somehow that could be affecting these episodes...but what a relief. I can live with crooked ear canals and sinus infections. But more importantly, so can he.

I'm so glad Gage is doing alright. He was more than willing to show off his IV poke. How's your mouth?

This almost made me cry! I am so glad he is okay. I am still sad though that he may have to live with this for the rest of his life even though it isn't the worst that could happen. I love you Gage!

Poor little guy. there is NOTHING worse than watching your kids suffer. I hope that he gets it all figured out...and fast!

That is my worst fear too. I couldn't bear to see anything happen to one of my kids. Glad to hear that he's ok... how scary.

What a scare! I am glad that everything looks okay and I hope that they can get the sinus infection cleared up so he might start feeling better!

I'm living proof that "crooked" ear canals and migraines are liveable-they are no fun, but I too ahd to go through all the testing, surgeries, ear tubes, iv's and all the fun stuff that goes along with it. I worry so much about others that I hear have to go through it maybe because I still can't feel "good" on a daily basis-and I don't want anyone else to ahve to suffer. I hope it isn't as serious and hopefully doc's have more fixes now days if it is...we'll pray for you guys! He's tuff stuff and he'll get through it!

Thank goodness it isn't serious what Gage had. There is nothing scarier than to watch your kids get sick. I have had the sinus trouble my whole life but it is nothing serious, thank goodness. What a little doll he is.
